makeover monday

i've wanted to make this for a long time and finally found all my supplies for it.

i took simple yard sticks and turned them into a coat rack.

supplies
5 yard sticks
5 hooks
wood for frame
liquid nail
screws

i got my man to help me on this one. he built a frame to attach the yard sticks to.

after the frame was built, he used liquid nail to attach the yard sticks. once it was dry, he screwed in the hooks.

all finished and we hung it up in the living room.

happy monday!

miscellaneous monday

last night i went on a date with my man. we saw this...
it was a good movie! when i think about fall, baseball always comes to mind. i love hearing the playoffs in the background on a crisp fall day.

today, i'm working on a bit of painting.

two tables that are in my family room are getting painted. they were brown, and will be white when i'm finished.
yes, that's me with no makeup on!

who wants to put on makeup when all your doing is painting???

i bought this rug for my family room.

which has inspired me to paint one of the walls a light yellow. i'm still deciding which one to pick.

my little lady hanging out while i prepped the tables for painting.

happy monday!

makeover monday

my dining room table got a new makeover. i made a table runner out of burlap and white fabric.

first, i cut the burlap to the correct length for my table with about 12 inches on either side that would hang over.

then, i cut strips of the white fabric and gathered them, pinning them to the burlap.

lastly, i used my sewing machine to sew the white fabric to the burlap.

happy monday!

makeover monday

i painted one of the doors in the family room with chalkboard paint. since the door leads to the garage, i though it would be a good place to be able to write notes or any important reminders.

i also wanted a place for the kiddos to draw and be creative.

here is what the door looked like before...

two coats of paint and here it is after...

before we started writing on it, i coated the door with a layer of chalk.

i think the top half will be for me and the kiddos will have the bottom. i love doodling just as much as they do!

doll house

i couldn't wait to post this...so here is an early makeover monday post!

i found this doll house at one of my favorite thrift stores. i had been wanting to get one for my little lady but some of the nicer ones can be pretty pricey. this one cost me $24. i could tell it was handmade, but needed a little t.l.c.

here are some before shots of it...

my little lady helped paint some of it.

after all the painting was completed, i got busy wallpapering with scrapbook paper.

all finished!

i used her birthday for the numbers above the door.

all we have to do now is furnish it!

i'm very pleased with the outcome and so was my little lady. she told me it was so pretty!

makeover monday

my amazing friend Darci inspired me to plant some succulents. i've never planted them before but saw a picture of some she had planted and thought they were so unique and pretty!

here are the materials i used...

i arranged the succulents before planting them to get the best configuration.
my dining room table got a new center piece for a pretty spring makeover!

makeover monday

my coat closet was in need of another makeover. i would try and keep it clean and organized but it would always end up in a mess.

here is it before...

here it is after...

i made some changes. i removed all the shoes, because we never come in through the front door, we come in through the garage. i also put a bin that's on wheels, in the closet. it's full of toys and the kiddos can wheel it out when they want to play. i also added our games to the closet. we love to play games and i put then there so that they would be more convenient to get to rather than in the basement.

i put all the shoes in a more convenient location...right where we enter/exit the garage. the bins hold hats, scarves, gloves, etc. and are easy to access when we are coming and going.

makeover monday

this is my second tackle box that i've transformed into something other than to use for fishing. my first one became a jewelry box.

this one i've placed in my kitchen. i had this annoying spot in my kitchen, where bills, keys, pens, paper, etc. would collect. i wanted a place to contain it all, but it would be concealed and keep my kitchen counters clean. so,when i found another tackle box, i knew exactly where it was going. all i did to this one was wash it. i'm still contemplating on spray painting it...but i kind of like the wore, chipped paint look it has going on.

so dad...what do you think?

yes, ladies...my dad is a reader of my blog and i think he will get a kick out of this one!

makeover monday

i found this vintage desk at my local thrift store for $14.99 and just loved it's charm!

here it is before...

my man did the painting for me...white on all the metal and light pink on all the wood.

it looks great in my little lady's room and will be perfect for doing homework at! yikes...did i just say that! i can't believe she starts kindergarten this fall!

the desk top surface was still in amazing condition and i didn't want to touch it! i love the robin's egg blue color it has!
