what i'm reading wednesday

Raising Boys by Design by Gregory L. Jantz and Michael Gudian

I've read several books about raising girls and I was thrilled about a chance to read about raising a boy. There is a ton of information packed into this book, but one of my favorite parts of the book is when the authors talk about what a boy will learn from his mother and what he will learn from his father. Obviously, as a mother and a father, we play different roles in our child's life and how we nurture them. I also enjoy the chapter on "providing our son with healthily rites of passage into manhood." It's important for my husband and I to help our son from transition from boyhood into manhood. I know we have a ways to go, but these are some great things to ponder.

I received this book from Waterbrook Multnomah, in exchange for my review. All of my opinions are my own.
She's Twelve going on Twenty by Kim Camp

This book was an OK read, not my favorite book I've read about parenting a daughter. It doesn't have much scripture and lacks something…I can't really put my finger on it. It's almost 300 pages and filled with lots of stories and but could really be condensed.

I received this book through Book Sneeze, in exchange for my review. All of my opinions are my own and I'm not required to write a good review.

***And the winner of the devotional…"I think my all time favorite has to be "Hinds Feet on High Places". It was life changing for me."  Mandy
