the weather here is kind of crazy...i guess that's what fall brings. snow falling one day and then the next day, i'm outside in shorts and flip flops.
one thing i do like about fall, i love to try new recipes and enjoy all the yummy fall foods.
instead of buying canned pumpkin puree this year, i decided to buy some sugar pumpkins and make my own puree. it's really very easy!
cut them in half, lay them face down on a baking sheet, cover with foil and bake at 350 degrees for 1 1/2 hours.
allow for it to cool for a bit and then scoop out the flesh and mash. i just used my potato masher. now it's ready to add to some great recipes!
you can't cut open a pumpkin without roasting some pumpkin seeds. i sprayed them with a bit of PAM and added salt, then cooked them in the oven for 25 minutes on 350 degrees.
apple chips...sliced 5 apples thinly, then sprinkled with sugar and cinnamon. i laid then on a baking sheet and baked them at 225 degrees for 2 hours. i turned off the oven and allowed them dry up over night in the oven. they weren't quite as crunchy as i was hoping, but they are still very good!
apple smiles...this is one of my little lady's fall favorites!
Making those apple smiles as soon as I get some mini marshmallows!!
ReplyDeleteI think I can manage the apple smiles. Those are so cute!!!
ReplyDeleteMade pumpkin puree and roasted the seeds just a couple of weeks ago for the first time. Turned out pretty good. I made some nice pumpkin muffins. Gotta try those apple smiles - my kids would go nuts!
