resurrection garden

i saw this idea in a magazine a few years back and it has been stuck in my memory and this year we finally got around to making it.

materials~
a shallow pot about 12" in diameter
one small pot potting soil
wheat grass seeds (soak the seeks for 24 hours before adding them to the dirt)
a rock large enough to cover the opening of the smaller pot.

we first read one of the kid's Easter books. we talked about where they took Jesus after he died on the cross.
we went outside and filled the larger pot with dirt. the smaller pot, was used to make the cave. we used water during the process to mold the dirt into the right shape.
then we added the seeds.
our garden is growing!   easter week, we will add 3 crosses to the garden.

our little lady's 6th birthday

yesterday, was our little lady's birthday. 6 years old...i can't believe it! where has the time gone???

she woke up to her bedroom being decorated. she has come to expect it now, since it has been a tradition, but still gets so excited!
she took play dough cookies to school to share with all her friends.
she had fun opening her gifts and spent most of the afternoon and evening playing with her new things.
she wanted barbecue chicken pizza for dinner and ice cream for dessert.

st. patrick's day

we love to eat in this house, so i'm warning you if you are remotely hungry you probably shouldn't look at this right now.

the morning began with rainbow waffles.
lunch was kabobs and i made 2 different kinds.

one was veggies, chicken and sausage. the other was fruit kabobs.
since our lunch was a ton of food, i made a snack for dinner.

something that has become a tradition on st. patty's day...homemade pretzels. i've made them for about 4 years now and they are so good! we dip them in mustard or spicy cheese sauce.
lastly, we ended the day with shamrock shakes! i found the recipe here.

rainbow wind sock

we made a wind sock for st. patty's day.

materials~
empty oatmeal container
blue paint
paint brush
card stock paper (purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red)
streamers (purple, blue, green, yellow, orange, and red)
small circle punch
glue gun
ribbon

first, we painted the oatmeal container blue and allowed it to dry. then i used my circle punch to punch out different colored circles. my little lady helped me glue them on.  no, she naturally doesn't have crossed eyes! she's just a silly girl!
then we added the streamers and ribbon to hang it from.
all done and we hung it outside! however, i think we will have to bring it inside due to the chance of rain or snow in the near future.
