Happy Birthday Jesus cake

Last year, we began this tradition and we love it! Making a birthday cake for Jesus is just another way we try and keep the focus on Him. Here's how to make it:

Supplies:
1- vanilla or white cake mix and eggs, oil, water to go with it.
food coloring- red & green
cocoa powder
white frosting
6 inch cake pan

Directions:
Mix up the cake mix, following the directions on the box.

Divide the mix equally into 3 separate bowls. Add green food coloring to one, red food coloring to another and about 1/3 cup of cocoa powder to the last one.

Since, I only have 1- 6 inch pan, I take turns cooking each of the different color cake mixes.

Once they have all been cooked and cooled, I trim them so they have a level top, rather than rounded. This will help in stacking each layer. The chocolate cake goes on the bottom using a knife or spatula to put a layer of frosting between each layer of cake. The second layer is the red cake and then the third layer is the green cake.

After all the layers are stacked, cover will white frosting. Don't forget to light a candle when you sing Happy Birthday to Jesus!

The meaning behind the cake:
Chocolate layer- Our sins
Red layer- Jesus' shed blood for our sins to cover them
Green layer- Growing in our new life with Him
White frosting- A reminder that only through Jesus that our sins are wiped clean.
Candle- A reminder that Jesus brought light into this world and we too need to be a light to others and share the Good News of Jesus Christ.
